White Rock is one of the Lower Mainland's gems. Its beach, pier and seaside personality are a magnet during the warm summer months and holidays. Even during cooler periods (it has the most temperate climate in the area) it is a destination for a quick getaway to walk along the shore and enjoy a quiet meal at one of the many restaurants.
As a result of its special local climate it is also considered to be the region's retirement centre. Lots of services and shopping options are available. There is no heavy industry located here. It is near the point at which the I-5 from the US and Highway 99 (Canada) meet at the Peace Arch border crossing (which is technically in the City of Surrey).
